Fall 2018 SA+P-sponsored wellness courses

This fall, SA+P is expanding its wellness program to include more free classes sponsored by Dean Hashim Sarkis. SA+P will offer additional sessions of "Yoga and Mindfulness" as well as a 4-week "Koru Mindfulness" workshop to our School community.

Yoga & Mindfulness are both paths to becoming more grounded and present in your day-to-day life.  In this class, you will learn how to use your embodiment as an anchor - a way to find peace and inner strength during busy and difficult times.  We begin with basic standing and seated poses, and build up over time to the full range of Iyengar yoga asana which includes twists and inversions.  Begin your journey of bringing healthy movement to your joints and calming your mind.  Stiff bodies, beginners, or advanced all are welcome!  Limited mats and props provided; wear comfortable clothing.  

Koru Mindfulness is a 4-week introduction to the practice of mindfulness meditation.  Mindfulness is about developing the ability to be fully attentive to all of the moments of your life, reducing the amount of time you spend worrying about the future or fretting about the past.  Participants learn a variety of skills, including awareness of breath meditation (belly breathing), guided imagery, walking meditation, the body scan and more.  Each of these skills is designed to help participants manage stress and enrich their lives.

About the instructor
Ashley Norwood is a certified Wellness Coach, a Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Practitioner and certified Iyengar Yoga Teacher and Therapist.  Ashley teaches mindfulness courses, group health coaching classes and yoga classes for a variety of clients including Harvard University Health Services, MIT Medical and Atrius Health.  Find out more at www.ashleynorwood.com.
