Holobiont: the Journal of Design and Science

Holobiont, the latest issue of the Journal of Design and Science, suggests that when we look at the connections — as opposed to what’s connected — a new structure of the world is revealed. For this issue, a small group of researchers, designers, and other practitioners were invited to contribute work that speaks to this idea of symbiotic exchange. From designers who are concerned with exchanges between microbes and humans (and everyone else) to scientists who see the full forest (where we see only the trees), to researchers who explore buildings and cities from non-human perspectives, and even storytellers who understand that culture is formed not by a broadcast distribution of material, but through the interaction of that material with fans, Holobiont has invited papers, essays, and videos to clarify and sharpen this lens.
