The Center for Real Estate is one of many interdisciplinary centers at MIT designed to promote the growth of knowledge in areas that cut across traditional department boundaries.

It serves as a focal point for education and research into an industry that represents 25% of the US gross domestic product, with the aim of improving the quality of the built environment and of promoting more informed professional practice.

The Center is home to a one-year master's program in real estate development and a respected summer institute of professional development courses. Through its Real Deals series for students and its twice-yearly members meetings, it also provides an ongoing forum for the discussion of current issues by students, faculty and practitioners.
