The School

SA+P brings together architecture, planning, design, media, and the study of the built environment at MIT. Working across buildings and cities, technologies and cultures, we explore how people shape the world — and how the world shapes us.

Overview

One of MIT’s five schools, SA+P is driven by complex questions shared across disciplines, bringing different forms of knowledge into relation and opening new possibilities for inquiry and practice.

Departments, programs, labs, and centers cultivate distinct methods and approaches, grounded in their own histories, while engaging design and making, computation, historical inquiry, policy, and artistic practice. Ideas circulate throughout the school, creating a bold, experimental, and open learning environment.
